The Houston Public Library system serves the City's culturally diverse communities by offering a broad program of free educational, informational and recreational activities through a central complex and neighborhood branch libraries. The World Languages Center serves Houston’s diverse community by offering opportunities for learning, fun and access to technology in multiple languages.
Language Learning Resources
- Rosetta Stone - Online language learning courses for Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Vietnamese. (Library Card required for remote access.)
- BBC Languages – free online language learning courses with information and links for more in-depth study.
- LiveMocha – self-study lessons, activities and one-on-one instruction from tutors and native speakers.
- NVTC Languages of the World – produced by the National Language Translation Center, this site provides information about the over 100 world languages, with guides to pronunciation, writing and links for learning.

- Learning Express Library – Citizenship exam – history and civics review
- Univision – contains information on immigration law as well as sample questions of the citizenship exam
- Mayor’s Office of Immigration & Refugee Affairs - multilingual guide to immigration resources and services including ESL classes and a guide for day laborers & contractors.
- USCIS – United States Customs and Immigration Service information and forms
- Immigration Portal provides up-to-date information on immigration law and includes a search service for finding an immigration lawyer by location and/or language spoken and immigration forms.
- Texas Law Help provides information on immigration law dealing with refugees and asylum seekers and includes forms and links to community resources, information is available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.
