
HPL joins the U.S. Department of State’s Houston Passport Agency to provide passport services for U.S. citizens in Houston beginning Saturday, September 17, 2011.
To apply for a passport at HPL, please provide the following:
- A completed passport application (new passports only, no renewals; obtain from HPL or online at www.travel.state.gov) completed in black ink
- A certified birth certificate or other proof of U.S. citizenship (e.g. original naturalization document)
- Proof of identity (for example, a valid photo ID)and photocopy of photo ID (both front and back)
- The appropriate fees, and photos (HPL staff will take photos for $7.00; applicants may also bring in their own photos if they like but they must meet the 2x2 size requirements)
- HPL will accept applications & send them to the Passport Agency for processing.
- Applicants must pay a $25 processing fee to HPL in a check or money order made out to “City of Houston,” or $32 for processing and photos.
- Additional state passport application fees must be paid directly to the U.S. Department of State by the applicant as a separate payment with a check or money order, and it will be sent to the Passport Agency by HPL.
- Total fees will vary depending on the action/s being requested by the applicant such as a new application for an adult or for a child.
- Applications will be sent to the Passport Agency in the mail. Expedited services (overnight shipping) if needed, can be paid for by the customer with check or money order. The Passport Agency will send customer their passport in the mail.
- Customers will need to contact the Passport Agency directly for any inquiries.
