HPL has nearly 4 million books, CDs, DVDs and other materials in our collection. Visit any HPL location or visit our catalog on our web site to see what you can check out!
Coming to the library, using the library's web site and checking out materials are all FREE! To check out materials, you need a Houston Public Library Card. You can pick up a library card application at any of our library locations or download it here.
If you are under the age of 18, you will need your parent's signature.
The Library makes learning fun with a site especially for kids. The Kid’s Page provides kids with fun games to improve their math, science and grammar skills. Kids can also find help for writing reports and special projects with age-appropriate information on a variety of subjects from History to Animals. The site also provides reading lists for the beginning reader to young adults.
Get into Gaming. Visit your Neighborhood Library or the Central Library to play with the latest electronic gaming equipment, to participate in gaming competitions, or just to pick up tips and tricks. Check with your librarian to find a gaming event or resource to rock your way through the year, bowl against your friends, or save the damsel (or prince) in distress.
